Sales & business development
Help your team bring the curiosity, credibility and conviction they demonstrated at interview into new customer conversations.
THE INSTINCT WORKSHOP · HALF-DAY
Reconnecting the salesperson with the human behind the role.
Your team demonstrated their sales ability when they convinced you to hire them. They communicated their value, built your confidence and gave you a reason to choose them.
Somewhere along the way, that understanding of how to sell themselves can get lost. Instinct helps your team reconnect with the capabilities you saw when you hired them—and bring those capabilities into their customer conversations.
Instinct does not replace your sales training. It gives your people the confidence and strength to put that training into practice and get the best from it.
The vines are there. The difference is knowing how to move.
Your sales training provides the vines through the jungle and the paths towards the best fruit. Instinct develops the human judgement behind the journey: which vine to reach for, when to move, which path to take and when to change direction.
It helps your people use the training they already have with greater awareness, confidence and instinct.
Discuss a workshop →WHO IT’S FOR
A workshop for sales teams, designed for sales leaders looking to bring out and enhance the talent of their people.
Help your team bring the curiosity, credibility and conviction they demonstrated at interview into new customer conversations.
Help your account managers use their relationship-building capabilities more deliberately with customers.
Give your salespeople a shared language for recognising their strengths, learning from one another and putting their capabilities into practice.
WHY INSTINCT
Your people already persuade, negotiate, listen and build relationships outside the workplace—often without calling any of it selling.
Think about why you hired them. They understood the opportunity, recognised what mattered to you, explained their value and responded to your questions. They earned your trust. Yet those same capabilities can become harder to access once selling becomes a role, a process and a target.
Your team are human. Humans are animals too.
Observing how animals notice their surroundings, communicate, adapt and cooperate gives us a different way to reflect on ourselves. The workshop uses these observations as prompts for discussion—not as fixed rules about how people should behave or sell.
Instinct complements the methodology you have invested in. It helps your team recognise what they already do naturally, question their automatic responses and use their capabilities with greater intention.
THE INSTINCT METHOD
Understand the human doing the selling.
Your team identifies their strengths, assumptions and automatic responses, using moments outside work when they have persuaded someone or earned trust.
See the customer and their world more clearly.
Participants explore the value of paying attention to their surroundings, practising curiosity, listening and checking assumptions about what a customer needs.
Build genuine human connection.
Reflect on how connection develops through attention, communication and cooperation—in the animal world and in our own relationships. Consider what helps another person feel heard.
Guide with insight and relevance.
Your team revisits how they communicated their value to you at interview, then applies that awareness to what matters to their customers.
Create mutual success.
Participants consider how your job offer became a shared commitment, then practise clarifying expectations and agreeing useful next steps with customers.
THE HALF-DAY EXPERIENCE
Outside work, your people already create successful exchanges. They win someone’s confidence, negotiate an agreement, persuade a group to try an idea or sell something they no longer need—often without thinking of themselves as salespeople.
In those moments, they may be calm, approachable and genuinely interested in the other person. Put them in a work environment, with targets, expectations and the pressure to perform, and something can shift. They may become anxious without noticing it, more guarded or more focused on saying the right thing than building rapport.
The aim is to reconnect your team with their true sales selves: the qualities that help people feel comfortable, understood and willing to engage.
Each participant brings a successful exchange from life outside work. It might be agreeing a purchase, selling a personal item, getting support for a community project or helping someone make a decision. What did both people want, and what made the exchange work?
Explore how they listened, communicated, responded and built trust. How did they feel? What made them approachable? Use reflection and discussion to recognise the behaviours they may have used without consciously thinking about them.
Compare that experience with a customer conversation. Notice what changes under pressure, practise bringing those successful behaviours into a work situation and choose specific actions to use with customers.
People buy from people.
We explore what that means in practice: genuine interest, ease, trust and rapport, alongside understanding the customer’s needs and offering real value. It is about helping your team bring more of their natural, approachable selves to work.
The workshop uses personal reflection, group discussion and practical exercises to connect everyday capability with real customer situations.
